Capturing the Chaos: Hamish & Andy’s ConCon Event Highlight

Overview

We had the pleasure of teaming up with iconic Aussie comedy duo Hamish & Andy to capture their one-of-a-kind event, ConCon, a convention made for the sole purpose of a cheeky tax deduction. Our job? To take the chaos and silliness of the event and wrap it in a polished, serious-style event highlight that contrasts beautifully with the absurdity on display.

The result was a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the event’s madness, edited with purpose and delivered across their social platforms.

The Event Video Challenge

The main creative challenge was to play it straight, stylistically, at least. ConCon is intentionally ridiculous, so we leaned into the contrast by producing a highlight video with the cinematic drama of a serious event piece. The challenge was capturing all the absurd, in-the-moment action without losing the slick production value.

To keep up with the unpredictability of ConCon, we went with a run-and-gun shooting style, allowing us to move quickly and adapt on the fly while still getting high-quality footage.

The Approach

We focused on clean framing, dynamic movement, and purposeful edits to make the comedy land through contrast.

Each moment was treated with the kind of care you’d expect in a serious event wrap, only here, the “moments” included things like “The Biscuit Hour”, Hamish showing off his robot boots and a magic performance from Magic Mike.

The Outcome

The final video was a hit with the team and rolled out across Hamish & Andy’s social channels, including YouTube and Instagram. It’s a perfect example of how creative direction and production style can enhance comedic impact, not just support it.
